    AOL Sells Patents to Microsoft

Software patents are often used by software companies to sue or countersue to both protect their products and crush start-up companies. Simply put, the more patents you have, the more power and influence you can exert over the field of software development (especially for the internet). Does this transfer of patents mean that AOL is ready for the grave? Or are they looking to create new capital for themselves to rebuild their broken company? Read this Mashable article and let's discuss.

AOL is quickly losing steam, that's for sure. they need to rebrand if they think selling patents will further their business. turn that new capital into something worthwhile.
