Twitter Acquires Malware Protection in Advance of New Advertising Plans

Fake accounts, phishing, and hacking and viruses have plagued Twitter and Twitter users since the beginning of the service. Now that Twitter is expanding its advertising to include a self serve ads platform, they are gearing up to combat malware with the acquisition of Dasient, a malware protection company.

Dasient will be integrated into Twitter’s “revenue engineering team because they have a deep understanding of advertising-platform security issues,” says Rachael Horwitz, a spokesperson for Twitter. The team will be very valuable as Twitter continues to expand its ad products."
