'Tis the Season to Get Your Mobile Campaigns Ready to THE Season!

Stats all year show that mobile shopping is steadily on the rise and now with the large % of people with smart phones and mobile pads, this holiday season is definitely shaping up to be a mobile shopping season. Is your website ready for mobile shoppers? Here are some stats to show you how important mobile commerce is becoming:

In January 2011, [URL="http://www.clickz.com/clickz/news/1936041/online-shoppers-browse-mobile"]ClickZ reported that 1/3 of online shoppers also browsed on mobile[/URL].

By March of 2011, Mashable quoted a study that showed that increased and [URL="http://mashable.com/2011/03/31/shoppers-mobile-phones/"]1/2 of shoppers consulted their mobile phones before making a purchase[/URL].

Two weeks ago on Spetember 6, 2011, Google release a blog report with some[URL="http://googlemobileads.blogspot.com/2011/09/holiday-retail-mobile-insights.html"] Holiday Retail Mobile Insights for the 2011 online holiday shopping season[/URL].

Some important facts from Google's statistics:

[LIST][*][COLOR=black]We project that this year [/COLOR][COLOR=black][B]15% of total “Black Friday” searches will be from mobile devices[/B][/COLOR][COLOR=black] based on historical growth rates.[/COLOR][*][COLOR=black]Many advertisers do not realize that mobile users actively search for last minute holiday gifts and to locate stores to purchase these last minute gifts. In fact, we project that [/COLOR][COLOR=black][B]44% of total searches for last minute gifts and store locator terms will be from mobile devices[/B][/COLOR][COLOR=black] this holiday season based on historical growth rates. [/COLOR][*][COLOR=black]In fact, looking back on the past two holiday seasons, we see[/COLOR][COLOR=black][B] a “double peak” in search volumes for retail brands around first Black Friday and then the week before Christmas as mobile users locate stores for last minute shopping. [/B][/COLOR][COLOR=black]These shoppers may have missed the deadline for free shipping and are motivated to locate and shop at brick and mortar locations. [/COLOR][*][COLOR=black]The important thing to keep in mind is that these mobile searches drive in-store purchases: [/COLOR][COLOR=black][B]65% of high end device users report that they have used their device to find a business, and then made a purchase at that business in person [/B][/COLOR][COLOR=black]according our holiday retail survey of users in the AdMob network.[/COLOR][*][COLOR=black]Retailers should be sure to plan for the tablet audience when it comes to driving on-device conversions.
