A librarian at the University of Nevada set up two fake Facebook profiles for students from the 1910s in an attempt to make local history "a little more relevant" to today's Facebook generation. The profiles went viral with people stopping by to give shout-outs to the historical figures. Sadly, Facebook has since taken down the profiles because they violated TOS. But I think this offers an interesting educational use for Facebook. Wouldn't it be cool to wish George Washington "happy birthday" on his wall?

I wonder if this is something Facebook could get behind in the future, it seems like a promising educational tool and just might spark an interest in historical figures in some students. What are your thoughts?
