I admit, I think I've become a Foursquare junkie. It reminds me of when I just got into Twitter and Facebook and how addicting it was in the beginning. I find it fun to 'check in' whenever I go somewhere, and I get excited when I acquire a new badge. I was thinking about how Foursquare has become so popular, especially in bigger cities. I recently got married, and when my husband and I went on our honeymoon in Hawaii, we explored all over the island of Oahu. I decided I wanted to check into Four… Continue

A quarter of a century ago my forestry class examined the Stein Valley of southwest British Columbia. It was slated to be logged. Conservationists, natives and activists, including Dr. David Suzuki and the late John Denver, persuaded the government in 1995 to create a park — a global legacy.
There are conservatively 10 million different forms of life on our planet. All living organisms are made up of the same seven major atoms and come from the blueprint of life — DNA. Grizzly… Continue

The breathtaking, luxuriant tropical rainforests occupy about 13 percent of Earth’s surface. These incredibly complex and diverse ecosystems account for half of the known biological diversity (about 800,000 different species), and conservatively there are at least another 9.2 million species yet to be discovered.
The world’s tropical forests can be divided into four major regions. The American tropical forest region includes part of South America, Central America, the Galapago… Continue

The most remarkable aspect of nature is how organisms have carved out an existence in the harshest of environments.
Plants, as an example, have adapted to live in soggy and sometimes perpetually saturated soils and ponds that are extremely acidic, very nutrient poor but with lots of bugs buzzing around. They still survive, like all other green plants, from the sun’s energy. But they’ve also learned to supplement nutrient deficient soil from an unusual source. Welcome to th… Continue

How do you optimize social media to come up in search? What social media sites should I use for my business? Won't social media take up all of my time? These are questions I get every day and the answer is simple: Build a Social Media Infrastructure.
1. Miniature golf, Par 3 courses, 18 hole golf courses - The keyword phrase you're going after determines what type of course you're playing on. Coming up number one on Google for the phrase "New York" would be like playing in the Masters at Augusta National Golf Club and winning. However, going after the phrase "Ligonier grocery stores 24 hours" is like playing on your favorite miniature golf course, quick and easy.
This is an uplifting message about leadership. The most important players in this 'game' are the brave first followers.
Thank you for participating in Internet Marketing Club. Bravo to people who start blog posts and new groups and new discussions! And Kudos to the brave first followers who comment and participate and Join the Conversation! Continue

Nature has a warehouse of proven principles and a research and development laboratory with four billion years of product development. Many corporations draw their ideas, information and inspiration from ecosystems like prairies, coral reefs and/or ancient forests.
When we follow nature’s blueprint, economic, social and environmental abundance occurs.
We know that in living systems the behavior of the parts operate to benefit the entire system. In forests, for instance, spe… Continue

Eric Schmidt, CEO of Google, sent out a mysterious tweet perhaps alluding to the fact that Google may have an ad during the Super Bowl tomorrow. You can check out the rumored commercial by visiting YouTube.
So I made an egregious mistake way back in the day (aka probably a few months ago) and I signed up for some brand spanking new Twitter service with bells and whistles galore.
One of these services was that they would monitor keywords I was interested in and find veins of people to follow etc. automating my follow process.
I STRONGLY urge you not to do this… Continue

One stark reality of climate change is drought. It is deadly and history reminds us that it annihilated powerful civilizations including: Akkadian, Moche, Tiwaniku, Mayan, and Pueblo peoples.
Without fresh water all life perishes.
Australia is beginning its eleventh year of drought. Water rationing at homes and at businesses is a reality. The government has given each household waterproof timer’s and recommends four-minute showers.
Drought is not just wreaking havoc on t… Continue

Ants and human beings have much in common, including that both species have globally conquered the planet. We are both highly socialized creatures, agriculturists and ruthless in warfare. Both depend on forests for sustenance.
Ants have been on Earth for more than 140 million years and evolving from wasps. There are about 12,000 species known and professor emeritus E. O. Wilson of Harvard University estimates there are about another 9,500 kinds still to be discovered.
