Goodbye Free Google Product Search, Hello Google Shopping & Fees

Rate this Entry
In a surprising move, Google is going to charge for a service that was formerly free for the first time. Google product search, originally started as Froogle in 2002, is soon to become Google Shopping, and merchants who want to be listed will have to pay. Google says it is in efforts to cut down on spam and make sure that searchers are receiving the best search results, however small businesses and many merchants are sure to be upset by this change. Many will fear that this is the beginning of the end of free Google services. See SearchEngineLand for details on how Google has already begun testing this new Google Shopping feature.
