Google Retires Places in Favor of Google+ Pages

Rate this Entry
Google Places is officially over. Google has replaced the location based search and page results with Google+ local pages instead. Many local search marketers have been anticipating this change since Google+ announced branded business pages last year. Now Google's place pages are more social with Google+ and also will have Zagat reviews that will replace Google's star rating system. Google bought Zagat a year ago and is not putting that relationship to use for reviews and rankings of the local Google+ pages.
