Google Receives Over 1 Million Copyright Removal Requests Each Month

Rate this Entry
Copyright removal requests are increasing in numbers. Google adds the reports on this into their monthly reporting feature and SearchEngineWatch points out that they received more requests last month than they received in 2009. That is a huge increase. Is it just that reporting it is easier or is piracy and copyright infringement on the rise?

Here is a quote from Google: "We believe that openness is crucial for the future of the Internet. When something gets in the way of the free flow of information, we believe there should be transparency around what that block might be," said Google Senior Copyright Counsel Fred von Lohmann in a blog post.
