Yelp Adds the First of Many Search Filters

Yelp recently added search filters to help direct site visitors to special interest businesses. Since Foursquare also made similar search changes, it causes [URL="http://searchengineland.com/yelpy-insights-yelp-adds-two-new-search-filters-looks-to-add-more-117862?utm_campaign=wall&utm_source=socialflow&utm_medium=facebook"]Search Engine Land[/URL] to speculate "Is there a battle brewing in the area of searchable local content and reviews?" Yelp [URL="http://officialblog.yelp.com/2012/04/yelpy-insights.html"]has announced two new search filters[/URL] that it says will let users more easily find the right local business.

Yelp is calling the new technology “Yelpy Insights.” The first two filters are:
[LIST][*]“Liked by Vegetarians” — this lets vegetarians more easily find restaurants that, while not vegetarian or vegan by definition, are still popular with that audience[*]“X-Somethings” — this lets searchers find local businesses that are popular with consumes of certain ages[/LIST]As you can see, the search filters and "insights" could be endless to encourage searchers to look for other restaurants and businesses that were liked by people who have similar interests, ages, or backgrounds.
