Why Using an Author Tag Will Help Your Search Results

Google announced a several months back that they will be [URL="http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.com/2011/06/authorship-markup-and-web-search.html"]supporting authorship markup[/URL] so that writers can get credit for their articles online. It also shows up in search results with the author's picture and link to their Google profile. That is a great way for author's to get credit for their writings and also to stand out on the Google search engine results for searches on the topic they have written about.

Adding your author tag is pretty simple. [URL="http://www.highrankings.com/rel-author-323"]Jill Whalen of High Rankings Advisor[/URL] tells you how:

"You can also have an "author page," such as the About Us page on your website, as long as your Google profile page links to that page.

Once you've got that all implemented, every time you write an article, simply link your name in your byline to either your Google Profile page or your author page with the Rel=Author code."
